Brief History of Sadasivpet Parish

Sadasivpet was a Sub-station of Sangareddy and regular pastoral services were undertaken by the Priests from Sangareddy. Once Fr. Puthumana Joseph SVD purchased an acre of land for the purpose of School. On Sundays, the Holy Mass was celebrated in the house of Mr. David, a PSM company worker for a few weeks. Later on a shed was built on the land of Mr. Sebastian, a fabrication contractor of MRF Company at Sadasivpet. Within one year the provincial administration relieved Fr. Puthumana SVD from his posts in Sadasivpet.

Fr. Paul C. Vattathara SVD was appointed to start a new School, in the Land donated by the PSM Company. Fr. Paul SVD (Parish Priest and H.M.) began to stay at the MRF Carbon store-room near the high way and began the Primary School within the space available in that building. The ground-floor of the present High School was built within an year, in the land donated by PSM Company. Meanwhile, three Sisters from Sacred Heart Congregation also began to collaborate in the mission at Sadasivpet. Two of them began to teach in the School even before 2012 onwards. Later on, a part of this land (11 guntas) was donated to the Sacred Heart Sisters in 1996, for their apostolate-hostel for Primary School girls, a Health Centre and Parish outreach programmes. The Sisters started their mission in the Parish on 15th June, 1996. Those days the Holy Mass was celebrated in a small Chapel that was part of the quarters for the Priests.

One of the Parish Priests, Fr. Varghese Eraplakal, SVD put this Land to good use, when he developed it into a Health Centre where research work also was undertaken. Regular training in herbal and home remedies was given. Special programmes were organised to help the physically handicapped people of surrounding Villages. The authorities of INM Province entered into a contract with the management of PSM, who donated sufficient Land (14.5 acres) for socio-educational purposes. Fr. Dominic Ekka SVD as Parish Priest built new Church at Sadasivpet Parish and on 26th January, 2011 Msgr. Swarna Bernard blessed & inaugurated it. Presently all liturgical and para-liturgical services are being celebrated in the newly built church. The Parish Priest resides at Janssen Academy, as he is also the Procurator of the High School. All the Catholics in this Parish are migrants from Vijayawada, Tamilnadu and Kerala. All of them are industrial workers, both skilled and unskilled. However, the PSM Company is closed down since 2017 and most of the Catholics left the place in search of new jobs. At present there are only three families who are part of the Parish. They may also migrate to their hometowns, once they retire from various Companies.

Society Of The Divine Word(SVD) : Apart from the pastoral care of the above-mentioned Parish, SVD Fathers established St. Mary’s PSM High School at Sadasivpet, Sangareddy District. It was first started in a small way in a shed given by Priyadharshini Spinning Mill, in 1994 by Fr. Paul Vattathara SVD. It is known as Janssen Academy. The School is rendering its valuable service to the Students of the locality.
