What is Seminary

Seminary is a college or university that prepares young men to be good and effective Priests for te people of God. Seminarians for the Archdicoese of Hyderabad are currently undergoing different stages of formation. There are four primary areas of formation: Spiritual, Intellectual, Pastoral and Human. These are the basic tools of seminary formation.

How long does it takes to become a Priest?

Usually about 10 years, depending on when and where one starts. A young man who enters seminary now immediately after high school will spend 3 years in Minor Seminary (One Year Orientation and two years of Junior College) then moves on to a Major Seminary for 2 years to get a sound foundation in philosophy and Graduation, followed by 1yearof Regency and then move onto the theological seminary for 4 more years of specialized study in Scripture, Theology, Church History and related fields.
